As we inch closer to the Project Anime conference this summer, the production teams from Wasabi Anime® and the SPJA have been hard at work putting together the operational details for the event. At its core, though, Project Anime is designed to be driven by content that interests the hard working owners/staff/volunteers behind anime conventions (and fan conventions that feature anime.) Keeping in line with that philosophy, we will be hosting an online “open house” conference call next week to discuss conference details, field questions about Project Anime itself, and talk about topics regarding anime conventions that should be on the event’s schedule this June.

Attendees (and those considering attending) are welcome to join in.

The call will take place Monday, May 14, 2012 at 10:00 PM Eastern via Skype.

If you would like to attend, please RSVP by emailing contact@projectanime.org the following information:

Your Skype user name.

Your Gmail account/address so that you can be sent a Google Docs share for the open house’s proposed itinerary.

You will receive a reply with the Skype user name that will be hosting the call. PLEASE NOTE that Skype limits conference calls to 25 people; if more than that RSVP, we will host a second meeting with a 2nd host running simultaneously and a bridge user to share the info.

As always, please feel free to contact Tom Croom with any questions via phone (407.526.9272) or email: contact@projectanime.org

“Sell Tickets Anywhere. Track Sales Everywhere”

Project Anime is proud to announce TicketLeap (www.ticketleap.com) as a Gold Sponsor for the inaugural conference this summer. What is TicketLeap?

TicketLeap is a powerful event registration platform designed to make creating events and selling tickets easier and more social than ever. As an event organizer, you can sell tickets quickly, track sales in real-time and get people talking about events from one unified system. As an event attendee, you can use social media to share where you’re going, and get your friends to join in.

Chris Stanchak founded TicketLeap in 2003 to bring professional-grade ticketing to events of all sizes. He saw an opportunity to put cutting-edge ticketing in the hands of every event organizer, whether they were selling 1,000 tickets or 100,000.

The platform is designed for events of all sizes — TicketLeap believes the process of selling tickets needs to be democratized, so anyone hosting a live event (e.g. venues, companies, bands, individuals) can take control.

Today, TicketLeap is the fastest growing and most innovative ticketing company in the U.S., helping thousands of event organizers increase their ticket sales and totally rock at promoting their event, from the beginning to the end.

TicketLeap’s mission is straightforward:

Democratize ticketing by bringing an innovative ticketing experience to everyone.

Treat every event organizer like they are the company’s most important client.

Using these two guiding principles, TicketLeap strives to help you save time and cash while making your event as successful as possible. So, how we can help? Give us a call at 1-877-TIX-LEAP (1-877-849-5327) or post your event online now!

PROJECT ANIME’S INAUGURAL CONFERENCE ANNOUNCED TO TAKE PLACE THE DAYS PRECEDING ANIME EXPO® 2012 IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
The two day event will gather convention promoters from across North America to share ideas regarding fandom and the industry as a whole.

(Los Angeles, February 7, 2012) Project Anime (www.projectanime.org) is a multi-day conference designed to connect promoters of fan conventions (and fan conventions that feature anime) with distribution companies, vendors, and each other for the purpose of “adding fuel to the fandom.” The event, presented by the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA™) in association with Wasabi Anime®, will take place June 27-28, 2012 at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE in downtown Los Angeles, California.

The SPJA, conscious of today’s economic climate and similar issues facing the staff and volunteers that run fan conventions, have spearheaded the Project Anime concept as a “event runners’ summit.” While enjoying varying degrees of success over the past decade, this creative industry can only be better served by allying all parties who share in actively supporting the genre: distributors, promoters and vendors. The event’s dates are the Wednesday and Thursday preceding Anime Expo® 2012 (also in Los Angeles.) This will allow conference attendees to view, first hand, over 50,000 fans at an anime convention fresh from discussing how to have an impact on them (and the culture) going forward.

A select list of Convention Chairs, Co-Chairs, Board Members and Owners will be flown to Los Angeles to represent the largest shows in North America thanks to the Project Anime sponsors. The conference, though, is open to representatives of any and all similar conventions. Staff of these events are welcome to purchase memberships to Project Anime on the official website.

Further details (including attending events, sponsors, and scheduling) will be made public as the event is developed. This information can be found/followed via a number of sources:

ABOUT THE SOCIETY FOR THE PROMOTION OF JAPANESE ANIMATION: The SPJA is the parent organization for Anime Expo® (www.anime-expo.org), the largest Anime, Manga and Japanese Pop-culture convention in North America. It is an organization that works to promote the arts that are related to Japanese Animation and the culture that surrounds it. They strive to be an organization that enriches lives by becoming an integral part of and helping to facilitate the relationship between Japanese and American popular culture by servicing their fans, peers, and the industry.

ABOUT GREEN MUSTARD ENTERTAINMENT: Started in 2001 as Wasabi Anime®, Green Mustard Entertainment, Inc. is a production company that specializes in designing fan-focused entertainment for unique events and pop culture conventions. They independently own and operate a number of conventions including ASSIMILATION, Florida Anime Experience, InvaderCON, MuggleCon, and PinUpalooza. Since 2001, they have designed and operated anime related programming for dozens of national events including Anime Weekend Atlanta, Dragon*Con, Florida Supercon, and Gen Con. The staff of this unique organization enjoy collecting blue and yellow crayons in order to mix them together.
